CSUMB’s Tanimura & Antle Family Memorial Library is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Systems & Instruction Librarian to join a collaborative team. This position offers creative opportunities for a forward-looking, pragmatic, and motivated librarian. The successful candidate will coordinate and manage systems and platforms such as the unified library management system (ULMS) and discovery services, website, and electronic resources, as well as provide specialized research consultation, reference service, information literacy instruction, and collection development service. The successful candidate will also serve on library and university committees and participate in shared governance.
The Tanimura & Antle Family Memorial Library’s mission is to help prepare knowledgeable, resourceful and responsible citizens for California and the global community by facilitating active exploration, discovery, and synthesis of information. As a teaching library, its faculty librarians manage and deliver active, outcomes-based instructional programs, and support a variety of teaching, learning, research, and creative endeavors. The library’s design co-locates library services with campus programs supporting student success, including peer tutoring, advising and career services, and undergraduate research. This 12-month tenure-track appointment is under the direction of the Library Dean. The work schedule will include occasional evening and weekend hours. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Electronic Resources
- Manages the full life cycle of electronic resources including trials, subscriptions, database administration, proxy server configuration, and troubleshooting
- Develops workflows, best practices, and documentation to manage electronic and subscription resources
- Maintains current knowledge of trends in electronic resources and opportunities to serve users’ changing needs
- Unified Library Management System (ULMS) and Discovery Service
- Serves as the administrator and main technical lead for the Library’s Ex Libris Alma/Primo VE library management system and discovery service
- Tests and implements new functionality, upgrades, and configurations to optimize user experience and discovery of library resources
- Leads the development of workflows, policies, procedures, training, and documentation
- Library Website and Systems
- Serves as primary library website editor. Maintains site, updates pages, and manages integrations with other systems such as the discovery service
- Acts as liaison with University Communications and Enterprise Application personnel
- Implements and supports other third-party systems as appropriate
- Research and Instruction
- Serves as library liaison to assigned academic departments (to be determined)--provides information literacy instruction, research consultations, and collection development service
- Provides in person and virtual reference service
- Other Responsibilities
- Collects and provides library resource usage data and statistics
- Contributes to committee and governance work at the library, university, and system levels
- Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
- Maintains current knowledge of trends and priorities in library systems, including accessibility
- Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in information and/or library science from an ALA-accredited school, or equivalent degree if earned from outside the U.S. or Canada, by the time of appointment
- Experience managing library systems including a library management system, electronic resources management tools, and website content management system
- Experience developing workflows, policies, procedures, and documentation
- Understanding of emerging issues, trends, and standards in librarianship
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, analytical, communication, presentation, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated success working both independently and in a collaborative library or educational setting
- Experience and/or commitment to effectively work with students, faculty, and community members from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to persons of color, persons with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and others
- Commitment to furthering CSUMB’s values and ideals, as identified in the CSUMB Founding Vision Statement
- Commitment to engage in scholarly and professional activities worthy of promotion and tenure
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic programs and/or faculty at an institution of higher of education
- Experience providing information literacy instruction in a classroom or group training setting, with an understanding of instructional design principles
- Collection development experience
- Active involvement in professional development activities with record of scholarly contributions and achievements in the profession
- Knowledge of trends and issues in library systems and e-resource administration

COMPENSATION:
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $7,127 - $7,500 mo

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, and CSU systemwide pay for comparable jobs.
