Position Summary
The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over 150 employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University. Currently, there are 18 sport programs, approximately 550 student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department. The offices include the following: The Aztec Club/Development, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, External Corporate Sales, Equipment, Event Management/Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.
Under the direction of the Executive Associate Director of Athletics, the Assistant Athletic Director of Business Administration will support and enhance the mission of the San Diego State University Athletic Department. The incumbent will oversee and manage all Athletic Department finances and business operations, serve as the financial lead for the Athletic Department, collaborate with university personnel in Business and Financial Affairs to develop policies and procedures for the unique needs of the Athletic Department, be accountable for budgets, policies, procedures, and activities in accordance with department, university, conference, and NCAA regulations. This position will be an integral part of the continuing growth of Aztec Athletics with oversight and management of all of the Athletic Department finances and business operations. This individual will serve as the financial lead for the Athletic Department partnerships with OVG-Spectra regarding the operations of Snapdragon Stadium and JMI Sports regarding the multi-media rights. The incumbent will be critical in advising the Director of Athletics and Executive Associate Director of Athletics-CFO on internal and external Athletic Department issues and developing financial forecasting along with providing recommendations for major business, operational, strategic planning, and integrated capital project planning decisions. This position will also have oversight over Equipment services and secondary oversight over post-season travel for NCAA competitions. The incumbent will also participate in conversations regarding human resources issues and strategy. This position will advise the Executive Associate Director of Athletics and Director of Athletics on internal and external Athletic Department issues and make recommendations on major business and operational decisions.
University employees that have direct job responsibilities involving intercollegiate athletics are expected to have knowledge and understanding of NCAA, conference and University rules, policies and procedures governing intercollegiate athletics. Additionally, he or she is required to notify the appropriate personnel of any knowledge of, or should have known of any violation or suspected violation of NCAA, conference or University regulations.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits-eligible, at-will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on-campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Compensation and Benefits
San Diego State University will offer a competitive salary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
Anticipated hiring range: $90,000 - $110,000
