Under minimum supervision, the Intake Coordinator and Supportive Measures Specialist is responsible for coordinating and implementing significant aspects of the Nondiscrimination policy. Day-to-day work is performed independently under general supervision using their own initiative without detailed instruction and obtaining information on which decisions and recommendations are made.
The core functions of this position will include implementing CPHD’s comprehensive initial intake process, including clarifying the nature and circumstances of initial reports of prohibited conduct, and discussing preferred resolution options. Triaging reports by prioritizing the receipt date and seriousness of the allegation. Implementing appropriate supportive measures with impacted parties. In addition, this position will make recommendations with respect to appropriate courses of action to the relevant CPHD employees and University stakeholders.
The position also will support CPHD with other important functions, including training/education about the nondiscrimination policy, holding positions on multidisciplinary teams, and assisting with informal resolutions and investigative meetings.
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
The Center for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination (CPHD) promotes an environment in which all members of SDSU’s campus community can work, learn, and live in an atmosphere free from all forms of harassment and discrimination through the following activities: educating faculty, staff, and students on SDSU policies and procedures relating to non-discrimination; providing advice and support to faculty, staff, and students on issues of unlawful discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence; overseeing compliance with federal and state laws including Title IX, Title VII, and FEHA; overseeing compliance with Executive Order 1095, and the Interim CSU Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Exploitation, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation, including oversight of the formal complaint process; collaborating with other SDSU departments and representatives to provide a holistic approach to resolving discrimination and harassment issues; overseeing SDSU’s training programs relating to the prevention of sexual violence, sexual harassment, and unlawful discrimination and harassment.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field and two or more years of professional experience in the following program areas: Social work, psychology, investigations, Title IX, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or related field.
- Experience engaging with students, faculty, and/or staff in a higher education setting or through an agency/organizational role adjacent to higher education or a similar industry.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including populations of color, the LGBTQ+ community, veterans, and persons with disabilities.
- Experience in, and awareness of, the sensitivity required when interacting with a diverse community on trauma-related topics.
- Conflict resolution, alternative dispute resolution, or conflict management skills.
- Presentation and facilitation skills with an emphasis on education and training for a variety of constituencies.
- Directly related investigation experience in civil rights in employment and/or education at or for an educational institution, large organization, and/or government agency is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws (e.g., Title IX, Title VI, Section 504, the ADA, Title VII, FERPA, FEHA, etc.), regulations, and policies and procedures governing discriminatory practices and equal opportunity is preferred.
- Knowledge of applicable nondiscrimination policies and procedures is preferred.
