Position Summary

The Office for Curriculum, Assessment, and Accreditation (CAA) is situated within Academic Affairs, overseen by the Interim AVP-CAA, and responsible for ensuring an integrated, efficient, and effective approach to curriculum development, program assessment (including general education), academic reviews, and regional accreditation. In addition to the Interim AVP, the Office includes one MPP and four full-time staff. Curriculum Services is responsible for the production of the SDSU catalogs and Curriculum Guide, in addition to coordinating the processes for curricular proposals, articulation, and the Star Act (SB 1440). The unit is responsible for the accuracy and consistency of all aspects of the above items, as well as the Articulation System Stimulating Interinstitutional Student Transfer database (ASSIST) database (the official repository of articulation information), major codes, and any articulation of courses requested by the California State University Office of the Chancellor that are stored on the Transfer Evaluation System (TES).

The Administrative Support Coordinator II (ASC II) provides administrative lead support for the Office of Curriculum, Assessment, and Accreditation. The ASC II reports to the Director of Curriculum Services/Articulation Officer, with ongoing general support to CAA staff. 

The ASC II assists in the development and maintenance of statewide articulation agreements through oral, written, and electronic communication using local programming. Objectives include the development, review, preparation, and production of electronic materials required to facilitate the statewide articulation agreement process. As a liaison to statewide articulation officers, community college and SDSU faculty, department chairs, advisers, and management, provide information and documents relating to the review of articulation requests. Following SDSU policies and procedures, incorporate this information into community college articulation agreements. Assist with ensuring accuracy of new and modified courses and programs in printed publications and databases. Review and proof tables of contents and indexes of multiple publications for accuracy. Perform varied data entry and maintenance to curriculum management database by referencing and cross-referencing electronic and printed sources. Collaborate with other academic units on campus to resolve errors.

The ASC II is also responsible for providing coverage of front desk, phone lines, and CAA’s general email accounts. Oversees office procedures and clerical tasks. Prepares travel arrangements and coordinates calendars for Curriculum staff. Submits work order requests to facilities and help desk requests on behalf of CAA staff. Tracks office supplies, electronic equipment inventory, and general CAA staff needs. Maintains archive of physical and digital files. The ASC II ensures daily continuous and efficient operations of CAA.

The ASC II is additionally responsible for aiding with the curriculum process as needed.  Duties will include helping create agendas, Senate reports, checking and tracking of proposals, aiding with communications, and other administrative duties.

Full-time, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.  Work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This position is physically located at the SDSU Main Campus in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of work experience in an office environment independently handling multiple work unit priorities and projects
  • Experience at CSU or other academic environments
  • Experience working in a high-level executive office
  • Front desk/reception experience
  • Experience training and providing lead direction to student assistants
  • Knowledge in using articulation software, Curriculog (or other curriculum management software), Acalog, ServiceNow, and OnBase Unity (or other content management software).

Specialized Skills

  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Zoom

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,850 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,681 - $6,034 per month. 

SDSU Vaccine Policy

In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated. 

The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university’s secure online health portal prior to beginning work.  Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU’s COVID-19 testing program.
