Job Summary

To provide accompaniment for instrumental and choral ensembles and individual student juries, performances, auditions, and master classes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accompaniment for instrumental/choral student ensemble performances and rehearsals.
  • Provide accompaniment for specialized music classes.
  • Provide accompaniment for new student auditions, scholarship auditions and other special events.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of fundamentals of harmony; and skill in playing one or more musical instruments as accompanist.
  • Ability to select appropriate dance music; ability to compose or improvise music, ability to coach performing artists; ability to transcribe music from recordings.

Education and Experience

  • Special training or coursework that would facilitate composing and improvising music and/or coaching and accompanying and experience which has led to a thorough familiarity with accompanying choral groups and soloists (instrumental and vocal) or interpretive dances is required.
  • Ability to sight read music scores preferred.

Compensation

The salary range for this classification is $22.29 to $39.06 per hour.

Time Base

This is an Accompanist II Pool and is intended for qualified applicants to be called upon for temporary appointments, in the College of the Arts (COTA), on an as-needed basis. Temporary appointments may be cancelled at any time. Successful candidates may be appointed for a few days and up to one (1) year depending on the assignment.
