Position Summary

As the Administrative Support Coordinator II in the School of Public Health, you will play a crucial role in the general administrative operation of the school, acting as a lead to administrative staff and student workers. Your role will involve providing essential support to faculty and staff, both on-site and at off-site research centers and institutes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrative Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations and special projects, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of campus, college, and school policies. Act as the first point of contact for administrative policies, procedures, and processes.
- Staff Training and Support: Provide training and leadership to other staff supporting processes such as class schedule entry, purchasing, and student-centered programs.
- Budget Oversight: Manage instructional, non-instructional, operating, and San Diego State University Research Foundation budgets associated with the school.
- Personnel Oversight: Process faculty and student appointments, compile reports related to faculty workload, and oversee the faculty retention, tenure, and promotion (RTP) process along with other personnel-related activities. Provide training to faculty and staff on university, college, and school procedures and policies.

Position Information
- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
- Position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.

Department Summary
The School of Public Health (SPH) is one of five schools in the College of Health and Human Services. The SPH offers an undergraduate degree in public health, several graduate programs leading to the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree, Master of Science degrees, and joint MPH/Master of Social Work and MPH/Master of Arts in Latin American studies, as well as Joint Doctoral programs with the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) leading to doctoral degrees in Epidemiology, Health Behavior, and Global Health. The school is also home to an independent Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree program. The SPH is also home to four research and public health practice institutes and centers, and three labs.

Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Key Qualifications
- Experience coordinating administrative support functions for a group.
- Experience with development, coordination and tracking of complex budgets and schedules.
- Purchasing and travel processing experience.
- Experience working in a large, complex organization such as a higher education, public agency, government, military or healthcare setting preferred.
- Lead and/or supervisory experience preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,520 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,058 - $6,653 per month.
