Are you organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting student health? We are looking for an Administrative Support Coordinator II to join our dynamic team at the Student Health Center. Under the direct supervision of the Medical Director, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our health services. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Administrative Support: Perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties to support the health center's operations. Follow standard policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Clinical Leadership Support: Assist clinical leaders with administrative tasks, including coordinating staffing schedules and timekeeping.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee essential administrative processes, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
  • Appointment Scheduling: Manage appointment scheduling for practitioners, ensuring a seamless experience for patients.
  • Patient Reception: Welcome and assist patients, providing excellent customer service and managing patient phone calls.

Position Information

  • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment. 
  • This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary

The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity is responsible for the coordination and development of student services and building the inclusive excellence of SDSU's staff and faculty at San Diego State University.  Departments include, but not limited to, Assistant Deans for Student Affairs; Career Services; Communications Services; Counseling & Psychological Services; Cultural and Identity Centers; Center for Educational Opportunity Programs, Outreach and Success; Financial Aid and Scholarships; Military Veterans Program; New Student and Parent Programs; Office of the Student Ombudsman; Residential Education; Resource Management; Student Disability Center; Student Health Services; Student Life and Leadership; Student Rights and Responsibilities; Testing Services Office; Well-being & Health Promotion; and programming related to Inclusive Excellence.     

Student Health Services offers primary medical care and health promotion to students of San Diego State University through a wide range of programs and services. Care is provided by board certified physicians, certified nurse practitioners and other medical staff including nurses, clinical laboratory scientists, x-ray technologists, medical assistants, and pharmacists. In addition to the basic medical care, Student Health Services offers health education, orthopedics, osteopathic manipulative treatment and psychiatry.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite. 

These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Key Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health or public administration or equivalent is preferred. 
  • Two or more years of experience working in a public University Student Health Services environment and/or multidisciplinary primary care practice is preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience working with Electronic Medical Records is preferred.
  • Current AED/CPR certification is preferred.
  • Experience providing front desk reception in an ambulatory healthcare setting.
  • Experience working within a healthcare setting adhering to HIPAA requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,058 per month. 

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,058 - $6,653 per month.
