Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions and Director of Admissions, the overall purpose and objectives of the Graduate Admission Administrative Analyst are to provide daily operational support by monitoring workflows, creating and reviewing queries, data review and reconciliation.  The Graduate Admission Administrative Analyst will also serve as the primary point of contact for staff and campus partners related to graduate admission processing workflow and/or access issues. The position will support training efforts for the Graduate Admissions Unit, ES staff, student assistants and campus partners involved in the application/admission processing throughout the admission cycle.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary

The function of the Graduate Admissions Unit is to perform various tasks that would facilitate the admission of eligible graduate students to the university.  This involves the processing, and routing of applications to the appropriate campus departments for review and the creation of academic student records for the College of Graduate Studies.

The Graduate Admission Unit is responsible for processing applications to graduate programs by receipting, coding and updating the student information system.  Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reviewing transcripts and test scores, reconciling application uploading errors, calculating grade point averages, determining residency and preparing files for department review.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent training is preferred
  • Experience with document reviews in a high volume environment
  • Experience in data entry and updating database records
  • Experience in creating reports and/or training materials
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions
  • Experience working in a college or university division supporting admission
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from underrepresented groups.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,167 per month. 

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,518 - $6,791 per month.
